This classic winter warmer owes its roots to the Indian "toddy" of the 1700s, made with spirits, spices, hot water, and sugar. Over time, sugar was swapped out for the more soothing honey and lemon juice was added for a dose of vitamin C, creating a more prescriptive tonic for anyone fighting off a cold. Of course any sprits can be used, but to pair with our Meyer Lemonpop we choose Scottish whisky or American bourbon for a steamy match made in heaven!
2 oz scotch or bourbon
1 oz Meyer Lemonpop
.75 oz lemon juice
.75 oz honey syrup
Optional cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat and warm through. Do not boil.
Pour into a heat-proof glass and garnish with a lemon wheel.
