Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned

A proper old fashioned is essentially this: spirits, water, bitters, and sugar. Rumored to have been invented at the Pendennis Club in Kentucky, they of course would have preferred bourbon as the spirit of choice, but any fine spirit works including mezcal, scotch, dark rum, or brandy. We include a splash of Mommenpop Seville Orange for a tickle of complexity. Remember: don't over stir! A quality old fashioned should always be served "hot" so it's good to the last drop.

2 oz bourbon
oz Mommenpop Seville Orange
.25 oz simple syrup
dashes Angostura bitters

Combine all ingredients in a chilled double old fashioned glass.
Add ice and stir for 3-4 turns.
Garnish with an orange peel expressed over the glass and placed on the side.
