Based on Trader Vic’s 1944 Tiki recipe, our version of the Mai Tai (which means the best or excellence) gets a healthy dose of Mommenpop Seville Orange, the bitterness from the orange brings a whole new level of complexity to this tropical classic.
1.5 oz Mommenpop Seville Orange
.75 oz orgeat
.75 oz white rum
.75 oz lime juice
2 dashes orange bitters
Combine all ingredients into cocktail shaker.
Whip-shake for 5 seconds with 1 ice cube.
Strain into a double old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice.
Shave fresh nutmeg over glass and garnish with mint sprig.
