What is an aperitif?
Apéritifs originated in Europe, where they have traditionally been served as a pre-dinner beverage meant to wet your appetite and stimulate your senses. Consumed over ice or in simple cocktails, our citrus apéritifs can be consumed at any time of the day! We love them before or after a meal, with salty snacks and appetizers, or as the perfect palate cleanser in between courses.
What does Mommenpop taste like?
Mommenpop is a juicy citrus aperitif made with organic California citrus and Napa wine by winemaker Samantha Sheehan. Each flavor captures the flavors of peak season citrus, made without added sugar, dyes, or artificial flavors.
Seville Orange - Vibrant and edgy with a golden color, our original flavor is made with marmalade oranges harvested during their brief peak season. With a backbone of crisp Carneros Chardonnay, Seville Orange balances juicy acidity with notes of vanilla bean and cinnamon.
Ruby Grapefruit - Floral and refreshing with a pretty pink color, this true citrus flavor is made with Star Ruby Grapefruit and Pinot Noir rosé. Grapefruit’s lip-smacking brightness is complemented by green cardamom and rose hips, with notes of cherry blossom.
Blood Orange - Rich and full-bodied with a deep cherry color, our most-popular flavor is saturated with Juicy Moro Blood Oranges. Made with Napa Pinot Noir and judicious addition or warming spices like black cardamom and pepper, Blood Orange is cozy and versatile.
How do you make Mommenpop?
Mommenpop is made with organic California citrus, Napa Valley wine, local grape spirit, and select whole spices and botanicals. Made without added sugar, dyes, or preservatives, our California citrus apéritifs are juicy and ready to drink over ice, in a spritz, or in a classic cocktail.
Is Mommenpop wine?
Mommenpop is made with wine, but our aperitifs also include organic California citrus, a grape-based spirit, and whole botanicals.
Is Mommenpop organic?
We are in the process of applying for organic certification! While our ingredients are all farmed organically, we are not currently certified organic.
Is Mommenpop packaging recyclable?
Yes, all components of Mommenpop’s packaging are fully recyclable. The foil capsule is made of tin, and the stopper and bottle are glass.
How much alcohol is in Mommenpop?
Mommenpop products are between 17-20% alcohol.

Does Mommenpop contain added sugar?
Mommenpop contains no added sugar unlike most apéritifs and pre-made cocktails. All of the sweetness comes from organic grapes (in wine and grape spirit).
Does Mommenpop contain sulfates?
All wine naturally contains sulfates because yeast produces them. When needed, we add a judicious dose of sulfur to our organic wines that is not significant in the finished apéritif.
Does Mommenpop contain artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives?
Mommenpop contains no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. The color in Mommenpop comes from real citrus and fruit–no additional colorants are added.
Where does your citrus come from?
We form relationships with small organic orchards throughout California to source our citrus. The citrus is always unwaxed, unstickered, certified organic, and picked at peak season.
What kind of grapes are used in Mommenpop?
Mommenpop is made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietals grown in the Napa Valley (Carneros).
Is Mommenpop vegan?
Yes. Mommenpop is vegan, containing no animal products or byproducts.
Does Mommenpop contain nuts?
Mommenpop is produced in a facility that does not process nuts or ingredients containing nuts, however we are not certified as nut-free

How do I store Mommenpop?
We recommend storing your bottle of Mommenpop in a cool place away from direct sunlight before opening–just like wine. After opening, refrigerate to maintain peak flavor (up to 6-8 weeks).
My shipment arrived without a cold pack - is it ok?
Unopened, Mommenpop does not require refrigeration, but during the hottest summer months we ship with an ice pack to help protect the product from overheating. Outside the summer months, Mommenpop ships safely at ambient temperature. Please see our Shipping Policy for details.
How long is Mommenpop good for?
Mommenpop does not expire but it is not made to be aged like some wines. Once opened, Mommenpop keeps peak freshness for 6-8 weeks covered in your refrigerator.
Is the glass stopper leak-proof?
Yes, our glass stoppers are leak-proof and make it possible to lay your bottle of Mommenpop flat (or upright) in the fridge for storage once firmly sealed. These lids are fully recyclable and reusable on most wine bottles.
Can I reuse the glass stopper on other bottles?
Yes, the glass stoppers that we use can be reused on most wine bottles, and useful on many kitchen containers like oil and vinegar.
What is the Mommenpop lid made of?
The lids on our bottles are made with recyclable, reusable glass, as a sustainable alternative to cork. We source them from The Glass Valley in Czechoslovakia. The lids are fully recyclable, reusable on any standard wine bottle, and are leak-proof so that you can lay your bottle flat in the fridge for storage.
How do I open the glass stopper?
Carefully remove the foil covering the stopper with the pull tab, and push up on the stopper with your thumb to open. Keep the stopper for resealing the bottle! Please avoid using a wine key or other opener that may chip or damage the bottle or stopper.
How do I ship to multiple recipients?
Unfortunately we currently cannot accommodate orders for multiple recipients at this time (we’re working on it!). Please place your orders individually on the website. If your order is for more than 10 recipients, please email hello@mommenpop.com with a spreadsheet of your order information and we will be happy to assist with placing the orders. We apologize for any inconvenience.
How do I track my order?
You will receive an email from the carrier with your tracking number once your order has shipped. Please refer to our Shipping Policy for further details. If you’re having trouble locating your order, please contact us hello@mommenpop.com.
Which shipping services and carriers do you use?
We use FedEx, UPS, and GLS. Please refer to our Shipping Policy and checkout pages for rates.
Something in my order is broken, how do I get a replacement?
Oh no! We’re so sorry to hear this. If your order arrived damaged, please reach out to us right away at hello@mommenpop.com with a quick note and an image of the broken packaging so that we can make things right! Per federal law, we are not able to offer a refund, but we are able to offer a reshipment.
Do you ship outside of the United States?
No. We do not ship outside of the United States.

How do I add a gift message?
Adding a gift message is easy! You will be given the option to do so during the second step of the checkout process.
What do the gift messages look like?
All of our gift messages are printed on custom Mommenpop stationery, and will include both your first and last name, and the first name of your recipient.
If I’m sending a gift, will the receipt be in the box?
We include a list of the contents with your order, but never a receipt. Please contact us at hello@mommenpop.com if you need an additional receipt for record-keeping.
I made a mistake - can I change my gift note?
If you’ve made a mistake, please reach out to us at hello@mommenpop.com right away. If your order has yet to be processed, we may be able to assist!
